Welcome to the Constitution for Israel website.
Promoting global partnership of the Jewish people with Israel is one of the fundamental commitments of the Jewish Agency for Israel. Global Jewish partnership is crucial to Israel’s continued existence as a Jewish and democratic state.
I was therefore delighted when the Chair of the Constitution, Law, and Justice Committee of the Knesset, MK Michael Eitan, approached me with the idea of involving Jewish communities around the world in the constitutional process. A constitution entrenching the basic principles and values of Israel is urgently needed, and the constitutional process will also play a vital role in Jewish and Zionist education around the world.
